Pisgah National Forest and DuPont State Forest, located just down the road from Camp Highlander, are two of the most beautiful places on earth and boast incredible offerings of outdoor adventures. Each is saturated with miles of trails for hiking and mountain biking. Each possesses a plethora of picturesque waterfalls or breathtaking mountain views. Outdoor enthusiasts travel across the world to visit these forests … and they’re right in our backyard! We take full advantage of the natural resources available to us, allowing our campers to hike, bike, paddle, swim and explore to their hearts’ content. And, of course, no trip to Pisgah would be complete without visiting Dolly’s Ice Cream Bar!
No summer camp experience would be complete without a night spent sleeping under the stars. To that end, we offer a variety of overnight trips (both on and off-camp) for campers of all ages! With the necessary gear in tow, our campers head out to enjoy a night of songs, stories and s’mores shared around a blazing campfire. While experiencing the wonder of the great outdoors, campers learn how to choose a campsite, how to set up a tent, how to cook over a fire and how to clean up without leaving a trace. In the majestic mountains of Western North Carolina, and beneath the canopy of a starry night sky, lifelong memories are made each and every summer!
