First Time Campers

For six decades now, Camp Highlander has welcomed new campers into our camp family – providing them a wonderful new community and a home away from home.

Welcoming from the Beginning

Ensuring these campers feel welcome from the moment they enroll is our top priority. We focus most of our attention on communicating with new campers and their families throughout the winter months, preparing them for the most magical summer ever!

Each new camper receives a welcome packet the good ol’ fashioned way - in the mail! There is nothing more exciting at camp than getting mail and we want our new campers to get excited about this simple treasure. They will enjoy receiving letters and mailings throughout the winter and hearing all about the wonders of Camp Highlander.

Campers can look forward to the following things from camp:

  1. A New Camper Welcome Packet that will arrive shortly after registration. This will include a sample schedule of camp and give all sorts of exciting inside information about life as a camper at Camp Highlander.
  2. The Campfire Quarterly is a quarterly newsletter we send out via email, packed full of camp photos and news from the mountain. This helps keep new camp families up to date with all of the latest happenings on Old Forge Mountain!
  3. Regular posts on our blog, Facebook page and Instagram feed as we stay in touch with all of our camp families with exciting new updates and important reminders!
