At Camp Highlander, we believe the best days are often the ones filled with sweet surprises—rain included! And today was just that. The morning started with everyone’s favorite surprise: Sleep In Saturday and Dunkin Donuts for breakfast. While returning campers may have expected this beloved tradition, the surprise was the Sleep In Saturday shirts waiting for all of camp this morning!
The afternoon brought a mix of sun and sudden showers, but instead of running for cover, our campers danced, sang, and splashed their way through it all. The rain wasn’t a disruption—it was an unexpected delight that made the day even more memorable.
What stood out most weren’t the clouds overhead, but the laughter echoing through camp, the muddy footprints left behind, and the pure joy on our campers’ faces as they embraced every drop. Rain at Highlander isn’t something we avoid—it’s something we enjoy.
Today was Camper Choice Day, and your children soaked up every minute of it—literally! From mixing up gooey slime in arts and crafts to savoring warm s’mores pizza in cooking, singing at the top of their lungs for Taylor Swift Appreciation, practicing their roll in kayaking, sprinting through the trails of Old Forge Mountain, reading a book in a hammock and even enjoying Skyline chili for Cincinnati appreciation…the day was packed with little moments that turned into big memories.
Only at camp can a passing shower turn into a dance party, a muddy game of ultimate become the best part of your day, and a rain storm feel like a gift. Today was a beautiful reminder that the best surprises often come when we least expect them—and sometimes, they fall from the sky.

- Weather: I’ve seen sunshine and I’ve seen rain on Old Forge today, but it was a fantastic day!
- Meals: For breakfast we had Dunkin donuts, scrambled eggs, bacon, grits, oatmeal and a fruit and yogurt bar. For lunch we had chicken fingers and french fries with a salad bar and sandwich bar. For dinner we had Highlander famous BBQ - pulled pork, pulled chicken, vinegar slaw, macaroni & cheese, baked beans and a salad bar and sandwich bar.
- EP: Tonight’s Evening Program was Decades Dancino - a giant dance party, casino games and yummy food like french fries, cotton candy, popcorn, trail mix bar and candy galore! It was a super fun night!
