Day Two of Color War 2025 was nonstop running from the wake-up bell to lights out. Campers were racing from one event to the next—whether spectating or competing! The day kicked off with one of our most iconic Highlander traditions: the Old Forge Run. This historic race, first known as the Blue Valley Run at our original Highlands, NC campus in 1964, was renamed after our move to Old Forge Mountain. It’s more than just a race—it’s a legacy. And this year, the Red Dragons crossed the finish line first, claiming victory in this storied event!

But the running didn’t stop there. Campers dashed through the Lower and Middle Pentathlons, sprinted the bases during kickball and elephantball, ran as they volleyed back and forth on the tennis court, raced in the track meet and never stopped moving in ultimate frisbee. The momentum carried us all the way to the afternoon’s grand finale: the Carolina Streak—a 12-runner relay that weaves across camp and down Dalton Road.

Still, “running all day” means more than just movement. Campers were stretching their minds and hearts too. While some were racing on foot, others were deep in thought during Jenga and Pictionary, channeling their creativity into the team derby car, or strategizing their next move in the . It’s one of the things that makes Color War so special—it invites every kind of camper to shine.

And tonight, we ran full speed into the arts. Teen Idol brought down the house with outstanding vocal performances, expressive dance routines, skilled instrumental acts, and even a hilarious lip sync battle that had the whole camp singing along.And our final evening event, while we weren’t running with our feet, our hearts were racing as we watched campers battle in Harness Pull.

Whether on the field, on the pavement, or in our heads, one thing’s for sure—we didn’t slow down for a second today. We were running all over camp, and loving every minute of it.
