We had a super-fun, restful, relaxing, active, busy, fabulous and full day on Old Forge! Sundays are an important part of the rhythm at camp. Our morning is slow, simple and intentionally designed for reflection and recharging of our campers and staff. On Sundays, we prioritize rest, community, service and reflection. We sleep in a little, enjoy a chapel service as a camp family, help clean up trash from the previous week and enjoy an extended rest hour. After a very busy week at camp, our campers are grateful for the slow pace of this day and the chance to rest and relax with their friends.

Then after rest hour…we kick up the energy and dedicate the afternoon to what we call SUNDAY FUNDAY! Today when the bell rang at the end of rest hour, campers and staff were so excited to see Pelicans, the snoball truck here waiting for them for a snack! This cold treat was so refreshing on a hot summer day! After enjoying a yummy snoball, cabins headed out to their cabin choice activities for fun in the sun with their cabins. We had lots of options for activities from bracelet making to bombardment, ultimate frisbee, soccer, pool, zumba, line dancing, card and board games, painting rocks, catching tadpoles in the creek and so much more! What I loved most today was the laughter, joy and memories made from friends just hanging out together as they enjoyed a beautiful day at camp!

Tonight as we all began to head down to campfire, I had a camper say to me, “Today was a great day! It was exactly what we needed.” I couldn’t agree more!

Favorite Details of the Day

  • Chapel: We read “You Are Special” by Max Lucado and talked about the importance of character.
  • Weather: Absolutely gorgeous!!! Sunshine ALL DAY! It was hot, but we had so much FUN IN THE SUN today!!
  • Meals: For breakfast this morning we had blueberry muffins, scrambled eggs, bacon and a fresh fruit and yogurt bar. For lunch we had mini corn dogs, macaroni & cheese and a salad bar. For dinner we had our chicken parmesan, roasted broccoli, pasta with marinara, garlic bread and a salad bar!
  • EP: Tonight’s evening program was campfire, which was followed by the campers favorite Sunday tradition…cookies and milk! Congratulations to our honor campers and honor cabins for Session B 2023 who received their awards at campfire tonight. These campers and cabins have embodied the CH spirit this week, living out our core values of courage, honesty, integrity and faith and leading by example as role models and leaders on camp.
