Well, we played in the puddles, danced in the rain and enjoyed every moment possible in spite of the weather the past few days. I am so proud of our campers and staff for their positive attitudes and their “silver lining” spirits. They have been the sunshine of our gloomy days with their appreciation for camp and the desire to embrace every opportunity for fun with their friends. For this I am incredibly grateful!

They say every cloud has a silver lining, and in the midst of these storms I have seen it. These rainy days at camp have taught our campers and staff a very valuable truth about life…sometimes you have to create your own sunshine. Sometimes life is not easy, things don’t always work out as we often plan, but we can embrace every situation with courage and determination. Our campers and staff are practicing resilience and growing confidence as they get creative and create their own happiness at camp.

This week the sunshine on camp didn’t come from the sky. It is beaming from the face of your children as they made others laugh, loaned their dry sweatshirt to a friend or even welcomed a wet hug to make someone’s day. We can’t control the weather, but the silver lining is… we can always choose to create our own sunshine!

Favorite Details of the Day

  • Weather: We had another day of off and on rain, but we are headed to bed tonight with hope for some sunshine tomorrow!
  • Meals: For breakfast we had assorted bagels and cream cheese, scrambled eggs, sausage patties and a fruit bar. For lunch we had baked ziti, steamed broccoli, warm breadsticks and a salad bar. For dinner we had an indoor cookout with Bryan’s yummy hamburgers and hotdogs, pasta salad, watermelon, potato chips and warm chocolate chip cookies for dessert!
  • EP: Tonight we had an Outrageous Bingo. This was a scavenger hunt styled game where cabins choose locations around camp to complete a bingo card. At these locations, each cabin had various tasks to complete in order to fill in 5 consecutive spaces on their card. It was lots of fun! Cabin 34 won for upper camp and Cabin 26 won in lower camp!
