We have had the most amazing week with your children, and our last day together has been absolutely unforgettable. As Bryan and I were sitting at campfire tonight, he turned to me and said “These are the happiest group of campers we have ever had at camp!” I think he might be right! All of camp was sinigng and dancing to the silly songs, the familiar songs and even the slow songs. They just couldn’t contain their excitement!

They have been like this ALL week. From breakfast to bedtime, they LOVED everything about camp. They thanked the kitchen every meal for the great food. They raved about the activities as if they were the best they have ever experienced. They boasted about their counselors and cabinmates for being the coolest on camp. Every afternoon when the apple cart came around camp, they went crazy…for APPLES! They made this week more fun than we ever could have imagined with their joy and gratitude for each and every gift of camp. Your children have been a gift to me, to the entire staff, and we want to thank you for allowing us to know them and love them this summer!

Kickoff Camp 2021…Happy Campers lived here…and we can’t wait to welcome them back in 2022!

Favorite Details of the Day

  • Reflect: For our final reflect, Bryan shared about the way you can change the world by the simple things you’ve learned at camp. From starting your day with a completed task, like making your bed, to choosing kindness with everyone you meet. Living camp at home will change you and the world around you.
  • Meals: The dining hall was filled with excitement this morning when Krispy Kreme donuts arrived at the tables. Yum! Eggs, bacon, fresh fruit, oatmeal and grits also fueled the campers for their final day on Old Forge. For lunch we had walking tacos - Frito bags topped with ground turkey, lettuce, tomatoes, sour cream, and even guacamole. Turkey sandwiches and PB&Js were also served. Papa John’s Pizza was served as part of the traditional final camp dinner at Highlander. Campers were elated when the Dolly’s truck pulled up and served ice cream for dessert! We saved the BEST for last with the menu for sure!
  • EP: Tonight we enjoyed two of the best EPs at camp…Talent Show and Campfire! Almost every cabin participated in tonight’s show, and it was amazing! We had rubix cube solving to music, solo performances, ballet routines, card tricks, animal impersonations and full out Hip Hop routines! Campers jumped up and sang along to all of the campfire songs and relished their final night on the mountain.
  • Weather: It was another beautiful day on Old Forge Mountain. Today was hot and humid, but it made the cold apples and the ice cream all the more refreshing! Temperatures dropped as we gathered around the campfire tonight. It was a perfect day!

At the end of the day, your feet should be dirty, your hair should be messy and your eyes sparkling.
