This morning as I awoke to a beautiful snow covered mountain, I was reminded of the peace and calm that Camp Highlander has provided in my life. You may be thinking, summer camp is the last place someone would describe as serene and calm. Summer camp is constant play, high-energy and often loud! Ask anyone who has spent one-night or eight weeks on Old Forge Mountain, and they will attest to the security and sense of peace Highlander provides them. Highlander has been the source of the deep friendships I can rely on and a safe place to land when life gets turbulent. During this season, we are all living in seemingly unsettled times. Let me encourage you to look to the friendships you have been given from Camp Highlander to comfort and calm your spirit. Step away from the technology, media and demands of today and remember the gifts you have been given. Sit on your porch and call an old camp friend… or play in the snow and then call an old camp friend! There is something about being in creation, amongst the trees, listening to murmurs of nature that settles your spirit. The familiar voice of a friend can help ground you in this moment, reminding you to move forward in courage as you face the pressures of life. One Love Camp Family.
