Ah, summertime.

That glorious season of the year when you can simply sit outside, soak up the sun, and relax your troubles away.

Or, that time of year when you have to get some random job so that you can afford to sit outside, soak up the sun, and relax your troubles away … if/when you have enough time off from your random job to do so.

Orrr, maybe there’s something better? Of course there is! And of course that something is working at summer camp!

YES, the personal benefits of camp are quite obvious: you’ll have a ton of fun, you’ll make lifelong friends, and you’ll enjoy all sorts of incredible experiences … all while positively impacting the lives of children for weeks on end!

But, did you know there’s actual, practical, measurable, professional benefits to working at camp as well?

Well, don’t take our word for it. The American Camp Association (or ACA) has been researching the value of summer camp (for both campers and counselors) for years now, and they’ve recently launched a new initiative based off that research called Project Real Job. Below, we’ve copied their list of 10 personal (and professional!) benefits of working at summer camp.

So, if you’re interested in working at camp this summer (or if you know someone who might be interested), we encourage you to apply today! And if you want to learn more about what it looks like to work at Camp Highlander specifically, click here.

You can also watch the video below to hear camp counselors themselves talk about these benefits firsthand. This video, the above image, and much more information can be found on ACA’s website on the ‘Project Real Job’ page.
