It’s that marvelous time of year once again - a time of transformation and change. The bright blue Carolina sky of summer is stained grey as the days grow colder and shorter. Trees that once wore the deepest shades of green (lush and vibrant like a fresh coat of paint) begin to rust and fade into brilliant flecks of yellow, red and orange. Temperatures drop, wardrobes thicken and, with the holiday season just around the corner, a sense of anticipation hangs in the air almost as tangibly as a chilly wisp of fog on a cold autumn morning.

Everything we know and love, including our mountain home, transforms right before our very eyes. The constant begins to change. The predictable becomes varied. The familiar becomes new. It truly is a sight to behold. And although no picture could ever do justice to the beauty of nature firsthand, we wanted to offer you another glimpse of what we witness each fall. We hope you enjoy the spectacular color show of autumn on Old Forge!

“Anyone who thinks fallen leaves are dead has never watched them dancing on a windy day.”
