Chapel, movies and campfires, oh my!

From sunup to sundown, yesterday was a fun (and restful) day on the mountain. We began as we do every Sunday with chapel, led by Uncle Karl, Gaynell and Bruce.

After that, we enjoyed an afternoon full of all sorts of fun (including arts and crafts, card games, relaxing in hammocks and even watching Shrek in the gym!) It’s nice to slow down every once in awhile and enjoy the simple things on camp!

The day drew to a close with one of our oldest and most beloved traditions, Sunday Night Campfire! Nothing makes this mountain feel more like home than gathering around a crackling campfire with our dearest friends and singing our favorite songs. It’s simply the perfect way to end the week!

Monday morning greeted us with a mix of clouds and sun, and figures to be another beautiful day on the mountain! Temperatures have dropped back down into the 80’s and there’s a slight chance of rain for the afternoon.

One of our counselors, Avery, kicked things off this morning at ‘Reflect at the Rock’ with a simple word of encouragement … just smile! Smiles are contagious and uplifting, and such a simple gesture can brighten someone’s day! You never know what the people around you are going through, so give ’em a smile and make them feel loved!

Up next is assembly and then we’re off to activities! As Melissa says, “It’s a great day to have a great day!”

Until tomorrow,
One Love
