Wow. What a great Opening Day! It’s always such a joy to see all the new and returning faces come back to visit our magical mountain.

Although the day started out on the damp side, the sun came out and we were eventually able to welcome our campers under a blue sky.

The Florida and Louisiana buses both got in safely and on time. Campers and staff formed a tunnel in front of the office to welcome the arriving campers as they ran up the road.

Some cabins spent their afternoons getting their screening in the Health Hut, while others took their swim evaluation. Certain activities were open and cabins enjoyed activities such as woodworking, painting and the climbing wall.

For the finale, we were all treated to a wonderful performance by Matt Manning, who will be leading our campfires this session, and by special guest, Greg Galloway. It was the perfect way to cap off a great first day of Session A/Junior 1.

A great Monday lies ahead, as Gaynell will continue his tradition of “Great Moments in History” at Assembly. Cabins will be out and about, as camp will be in full swing. The night will end with the Cabin Challenge Evening Program. This is always a great way for cabins to bond early on during the session.

Here’s to a great Monday!
