The Counselor-in-Training (CIT) Program at Camp Highlander is a six-week training program designed to transition campers into their role as staff.
The program consists of a three-week education period, where the CITs will live together in a cabin and participate in camp activities as a group while learning the role and responsibility of a counselor. During this time, they will be attending educational sessions and shadowing cabins and other counselors to learn and simulate educational opportunities and prepare them for counselor responsibilities.
The last three weeks of the program, the CITs will move into the cabin as Assistant Counselors in the cabin, under the leadership and training of two older counselors to mentor them during this time.
The CIT Program is designed to create leaders, role models and caring staff members that will be great additions to the Highlander staff for many years to come.
