Counting Down the Days til Summer!

Friday, March 28, 2008 | 2 Comment(s)

I'm sitting here in our winter office, thinking of all of you, watching the trees start to bloom and knowing that summer is just around the corner.

We're finishing up the renovations on the famous Cabin 1...and it is INCREDIBLE!!!! Our eldest girl campers will LOVE, LOVE, LOVE their new digs, complete with a full length mirror in their new "Taj Mahal" style bathroom. In the spirt of giving a little love to girls camp, we have begun renovations on what was once our "Lady and the Tramp" cabin, but will now be the new cabin 13. We want to keep the finished projects as a suprise...stay tuned for details in future blogs.

For all you horse lovers (and we can finally count Becki as one of you now that she's taking riding lessons), we are very excited about the arrival of an addition to the Highlander family. Tara, our beautiful resident horse mama, is expecting her third Highlander baby in May. Tara is doing great, and Julie and Stephanie (our year round riding staff) are taking terrific care of her. But we need a little help from all of you in picking a name for the new foul. So we are asking for your suggestions. Just post a name suggestion to the blog...the person whose name we pick wins a trip for the cabin to Kilwins with me.

Can't wait to see all your smiling faces!
From the mountain,
Karl

Hi Karl!

I was thinking Jasper as a name for the new horse. Thought it was cool, hope all is well and see you soon!

I would like to name the baby horse OZZIE. If it is a girl I would like to name her MARNIE. I can't wait to see the pony. From Rael Watner, age eight.

Horses, Horses, Horses

Hello everybody! Sorry I haven't blogged for awhile...as you can imagine things are busy here in the mountain. So I got my first horseback riding lesson today from our new Head of Horses, Julie. It was so great! And this is coming from the former art lady. Julie did a great job of making me feel safe and I learned so much in only a forty minute lesson. Stephanie our other new full time staff member at the barn was a huge help too. I can't wait for all of you to meet them both. Also we have another baby horse on the way. Tara is pregnant with her third baby, and will be delivering some time in May. So much happening at the barn this summer!

Hope you all are enjoying school. See you soon!

Take care,
Becki

PS-I would love to post your news too. Feel free to email me at email@camphighlander.com or add a comment to the blog page to share your news with the Highlander family!

A few new pictures

Tuesday, March 4, 2008 | 1 Comment(s)

Well I'm stranded in St. Louis...well snowed in anyway. But of course I've still got camp on the brain! I've added a few pictures to our slideshow to the right. They are from our very successful Leadership Weekend (everyone please note Mac's shirt and hat he's wearing) and our ACA conference. Thought you all would enjoy seeing what we do in the winter!

Missing you!
Becki

I just want to say that I have not worn the shirt or hat since!! They were a gift so I felt obligated to wear them. And for any of you who know what a good hat is, that is a very good hat!! So thank you Gaynell and Al for the shirt and hat. I would also like to thank Becki for getting a picture of me wearing the gear, so now people can blackmale me!! Thanks and Summer can not come soon enough!!!!
