Off-Camp & Overnight
No summer at camp would be complete without sleeping under the stars.
Off- Camp Day Trips
Just down the road from Camp Highlander are the Pisgah National Forest and the DuPont State Forest, two of the most beautiful places you’ll ever see. Each is covered in trails for hiking, biking and horseback riding, gorgeous waterfalls, and in Pisgah’s case, the famous Sliding Rock. Outdoor enthusiasts come from all over the world to visit these forests and they are right in our backyard. Camp Highlander takes advantage of the gorgeous natural resources available in Western North Carolina and introduces the best spots to our campers who can hike, bike, paddle and swim to their hearts’ content. And no trip to the Pisgah Forest would be complete without a trip to Dolly’s Ice Cream Bar. Come and taste the “Highlander Explosion” ice cream and see for yourself!
Overnight Camping Trips
Every camp experience is complete with a memory of sleeping under the stars. Boys and girls will pack their sleeping gear and headlamps for a night of firelight, songs, stories, s’mores and sleeping under the stars in the mountains of WNC. They will have the time of their lives experiencing the wonders of being outside in the great outdoors, while learning to set up a tent, cook over a fire and leave no trace camping. There is laughter and fun to be had, memories to be made, and the stories told are truly unforgettable! Junior campers camp out on the Highlander campus while campers 12 and older go off camp to experience the great outdoors.
